Shared Assets

Overview

Shared assets are fragments of a web page that can be inserted into a web page.  Some shared assets can not be modified after they are inserted into a web page; these are called locked shared assets. Locked shared assets are generally images. 

Inserting A Shared Asset

• Put the cursor where you want the shared asset to be inserted
• In the Insert Menu select Shared Asset...
• Choose the desired asset to insert and click ok
• After inserting the asset, you may edit it (if it is not a locked shared asset).

 

Shared Assets Catalog

Striped Table	The striped table in a table that will have alternating colors in each row.  The alternating rows will not be visible when you are editing the Content Document in Contribute; they will be striped in the rendered page.	No	Easy	This table is an example of a striped table.
FSD Link	A link to the current unit's Faculty Staff Directory page.  If the link is used on a page within a unit, it will be the FSD page of that unit.  Otherwise it will be the FSD page of the College.	No	Easy	See our Faculty Staff Directory.
FRP Link	A link to the current unit's Faculty Research Interests page.  If the link is used on a page within a unit, it will be the FRP page of that unit.  Otherwise it will be the FRP page of the College.	No	Easy	See our Faculty Research Interest Pages.
Feeback Link	A link to a feedback form.  Although there is always a link to a feedback form on standard and standard sidebar pages, you may want to highlight the feedback form in the content part of your page.  You may also want to link to a feedback form from a unit home page template. PDF Link	A generic link to a PDF file which includes a link to download Adobe Acrobat.  To use this shared asset, insert it into your web page then change the link in "My Document Name" to point to your document.  You should also change "My Document Name" to your what you want to call your PDF. RSS Feed	Use this to insert an RSS feed in a web page.  The following properties describe the feed.  URL of RSS feed.  e.g. http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_topstories.rss Home Page of Feed.  The homepage for the feed. e.g. http://www.cnn.com/ Number of Items to show. Style.  Currently we only have one 'shortlist'.  We may add fullpage etc. in the future.	No	Medium

 

Locked Shared Assets

Locked shared assets can not be edited by Contribute authors.  However they may be changed on the entire web site by the website administrators.  This is useful when an asset needs to be changes such as the path to a library image changes.  We will generally not make significant changes to locked assets without notifying authors.
