Watch Out For List

A list of Contribute and EdWebs behaviors that may frustrate.

Links To New Windows.

Links to new windows will open new web browser windows rather than open the target document in Contribute.  This makes it difficult to get to the page to edit it.  The solution to this is to either (1) make the link not open in a new window by changing the "target frame" to default when editing the link or (2) type the URL of the target page into the Contribute address bar to get to the page in order to edit it.

Content Disappears When I Publish a Web Page.

This is generally because the content you put into the page is not valid XHTML.  The best way to resolve this is to revert/rollback to a previous version (File > Actions > Roll Back to a previous version...). Until the page works.  This is generally caused by pasting content from web pages or other documents directly into Contribute. Try the insert > microsoft office document option for inserting content from Word documents. When pasting from web pages, try edit > paste text only option and format the text after you insert it into Contribute.
