College of Education
Computer-Related Surplus
When faced with the decision of whether to keep computer hardware, we use the following minimum criteria. The Office of the Chief Information Officer occasionally collects hardware both from within the College of Education and from other UIUC Colleges. Faculty and staff are welcome to call (244-6053) to request a "recycled" computer. An CIO staff member will evaluate your current system to determine if anything we have might be an upgrade for you. Please keep in mind that there are times when CIO has no surplus computers available for its end users.
You should also call CIO at 244-6053 regarding surplus hardware for which your department no longer has a need. There is a chance your old hardware might be a good upgrade for some of the College's graduate-student work areas!
Macintosh Hardware Minimum Standards:
- G4 Processor (600MHz minimum) with at least 256MB of RAM
PC Minimum Standards:
- Pentium III (800MHz minimum) or later with at least 512MB of RAM
