CIO Open Forums

CIO Open Forums are opportunities for members of the College of Education community to learn and to exchange ideas about current technologies used in the classroom, office, and home. Our hope is to provide a casual, open, fun environment to talk about technologies that are affecting your life. Our goals are to a) help make technology work better for all of us through the sharing of new technologies and recommended practices, b) learn who shares what interests in order to foster collaboration, and c) help keep CIO informed of what is important to you.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THESE FORUMS?

Although these forums are casual, open events, they are organized around a topic and the forum leader or panel will begin the forum with some information or discussion. After that, the path is dictated by the group and facilitated by the leader/panel.

Here's what to expect:

  • To discuss "hot" technologies for the classroom, office, and home.
  • To learn who the specialists are (maybe you are one) and what they have to say on a given topic.
  • To share computer "tips and tricks" and "recommended practices" on various technologies.
  • To learn who shares your interests and to explore opportunities to collaborate.
  • To rant together about the latest technical difficulties and to explore solutions.
  • To win door prizes and to increase your chance to win a GRAND PRIZE at the end of each season.

WHEN ARE THE FORUMS HELD?

CIO Open Forums will be held...

  • The FIRST and THIRD TUESDAY of each month
  • 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM -- But come when you can! Feel free to bring a lunch!
Note that the CIO Open Forums have been scheduled to cover more than just the lunch hour. This was done to make it possible for people to attend before or during lunch -- in recognition that for some it is difficult to attend over the lunch hour, yet for others, the only opportunity.

Announcements for each forum will be sent before each event. See below for a schedule of the current season's CIO Open Forums.
