Need to connect to our network?

YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR MACHINE FIRST!

In order to provide better security for the Education Building's wired network, all computers connected physically to the Education Building network must be registered once by the computer's primary user.*  Note that this does not apply to computers which will connect exclusively via wireless.

To register a computer:

  1. Connect physically to a network jack in the Education Building.
  2. Launch a web browser and visit any page. If your machine is not already registered, you will automatically be redirected to the College of Education Network Registration page.
NOTE: If you are not automatically redirected and you are unable to access the network, first reboot your computer, then try step 2 again.
  3. Prior to the Network Registration page, a pop-up box about security certificates will ask if you would like to proceed. To continue, click "Continue", "Proceed" or "Yes". (Prompt varies from browser to browser.)
  4. At the Network Registration page, enter your user name and Active Directory password to authenticate.
Note: To help you identify your AD account password, below are campus and college resources which use AD for authentication:
    • CITES' Netfiles
    • CITES' Illinois Compass
    • CITES' Exchange Email/Calendaring
    • College Faculty/Staff Computers (Windows and Mac login)
    • Departmental shares and user directories on College servers
    • College web applications such as the Online Annual Report
  5. If successful, you will then be instructed to reboot your computer.
