Biography

Thanks to my background in Journalism, I appreciate the written word. Thanks to my design training, I understand presentation is just as crucial when it comes to visual communications. My past work with TIME magazine helped hone my eye for layout, and my duties at stern magazine in Hamburg, focused on informational graphics. As a former media director at the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry at Ball State University in Indiana, I also understand managing deadlines and the needs of an academic audience. Prior to joining the College of Education at the University of Illinois, I worked in Germany after receiving a Bosch Fellowship. While there I crafted "Rising from the Rust," a digital exhibit for the Ruhr Museum in Essen, Germany. For this interactive piece I shot more than 3,000 portraits, conducted interviews in German, edited countless hours of audio and programmed the results into a Flash interface. I hope to implement such projects to promote the College of Education, as users could then experience the College in an interactive format. Thus far, I have assisted in College of Education rebranding efforts-- a facelift of sorts-- to promote our message of tradition, engagement, breakthrough, and impact. My duties fulfill a kaleidoscope of work including photography, design/layout, and press release composition. Every day something new? Indeed...
