Data Management Services
The Office of the CIO has data experts whose job it is to improve business processes
and to support reporting and decision-making activities. Primarily, we design, build, manage
and maintain databases that serve College needs. We are a gateway to
data from University systems, integrating it with our College data in
ways that affect things as simple as a department's staff phone list
to as complicated as our faculty annual reporting system. From database
hosting to data analysis advice, process and flow consultation, and
database application development, we strive to help you work more efficiently
with your data.
The following data management services are offered. Please contact us through the User Services at 244-6053 for further information.
Database Hosting
The college offers two database products on which we can host your database: Filemaker Pro and Microsoft SQL Server. This service is targeted at databases that have a high volume of users, need robust security, or require integration with University data sources.
Data Consultation
Our experts offer assessment and recommendations on your data conundrum. We offer advice on data handling processes, project assessment, and database product selection issues. This service is gladly given, especially as you initiate a data project.
Database Development
Our applications development group has the skills to develop both desktop-based and web-based data driven applications. These applications are time and resource intensive and therefore this service is limited to projects with broad impact, high demand, and college wide audiences.
Data Analysis and Integration
We provide basic advice on working with your data using tools
such as Microsoft Word or Excel to import, export, merge or tally
data. This service aims to help you utilize and mine the data
you already have in meaningful and timesaving ways.
