This fall, many of you may be teaching
in a classroom within the College of Education building.
The Office of the Chief Information Officer would like to take
this opportunity to clarify the unique situation that we have
in the College of Education with respect to media-ready classrooms,
as well as promote other services that CIO offers the College.
Currently, CIO Educational Computing and Media provides the training
and security codes for the technology in Room 15/17 (videoconferencing),
Room 22, Room 42A, Room 166, Room 176, and Room 192. If
you will be teaching in one of these rooms, you will need to receive
training on how to access and use this equipment. Currently,
we are offering the following walk-in times scheduled for next
week:
Room 22 - Monday, August 16 from 1PM to 3PM
Room 42A - Tuesday, August 17 from 10AM to 12PM
Room 166 - Tuesday, August 17 from 1PM to 3PM
Room 176 - Wednesday, August 18 from 10AM to 12PM
Room 192 - Wednesday, August 18 from 1PM to 3PM
After these times, training can be scheduled by contacting our
office by email at ecm@ed.uiuc.edu
or by phone at 244-9902. If you have taught previously
in the above rooms, you may simply contact our office for the
access code. CIO Educational Computing and Media will provide
all technical support for these rooms as well.
In addition to the above classrooms, CITES Classroom Technologies
provides the training and security codes for Room 2, Room 33,
Room 37, Room 162, Room 323, Room 385, and Room 389 in the Education
Building. CIO cannot provide the codes for these rooms that
are managed by CITES Classroom Technologies. For these rooms,
CIO Educational Computing and Media will provide the first point
of contact for support, and will contact CITES Classroom Technologies
if the problem cannot be immediately resolved. To request
training and codes to these rooms, please visit http://classtech.cites.uiuc.edu/publicforms/Codes/code_request.aspx or call Carolyn Long at 333-8165.
Please note that Rooms 323, 385, and 389 do not have a computer
that is resident to that room. CIO Educational Computing
and Media will continue to provide both Mac and PC laptop computers
that can be integrated into the media systems in those rooms.
For rooms with no technology, CIO has projectors, laptop
computers, televisions, and VCRs available for instruction.
Finally, CIO offers Mac and PC mobile computing carts that can
be used throughout the College of Education building. The
Mac and PC computer carts have wireless access to the Internet
and all carts can be reserved in groups of up to 30.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by visiting
Room 31 Education, emailing at ecm@ed.uiuc.edu
, or calling our office at 244-9902.
