---------------------------------------------------
Starting at 5:00 AM on October 21, Facilities & Services will be disrupting power to the Education Building as part of the campus network upgrade project. There will be a complete loss of power to the building. Estimated duration of the outage is seven (7) hours.
HOW DOES THIS AFFECT ME OR OTHERS?
---------------------------------------------------
1) Remote users will not be able access key network resources from the College of Education such as...
* College web site (www.ed.uiuc.edu)
* College online courses on learn.ed, hreonline.ed, and hremoodle.ed.
(CTER's servers are housed at the Armory and will be unaffected.)
* CTE Portal
* College file servers (files.ed, digital.ed)
* College mail server
* College intranet
* College Connect server
* Many other web sites and applications.
2) For Ed Bldg residents: During the outage, no electrical equipment in the Education Building requiring power from outlets will be able to function. Laptops/PDAs, of course can function on battery, but there will be no network connectivity.
WHAT, AT MINIMUM, SHOULD I DO?
---------------------------------------------------
1) If you have students or other users who may rely on these services 24/7, please be aware and help get the word out.
2) For residents of the Education Building, we strongly encourage you to turn off your computers and any other electrical equipment prior to the outage.
