Masters Degrees in Curriculum & Instruction

Students interested in a Masters Program in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction have two options: Masters of Education or Masters of Arts/Masters of Science.

The Masters of Education (EdM) is designed for current teachers who want to increase their knowledge of theories and practices related to curriculum and instruction.

The Masters of Arts/Masters of Science (MA/MS) degree is designed for students who want to conduct research and write a thesis to prepare for a doctoral program and a career in academia.

All students are required to take 8 hours of Foundations Courses:

2 hours One course from the social foundations requirements: EPS 400, 402, 403, 404, 420, 421, 423, 424, and 426
2 hours One course from the philosophical foundations area: EPS 401, 410, 411, 412, 413, and 414
2 hours One course from the psychological foundations of learning area: EPSY 400, 401, or 402
2 hours One course from the psychological foundations of personality and development area: EPSY 404, 405, or 406
OR
  Students planning to work with adults may take EPSY 407 for 4 hours to meet both of the above EPSY requirements
OR
  Four hours of EPSY 408 meets both foundational requirements for EPSY
