Organizational Overview
The College of Education is one of thirteen degree-granting units on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus. With nearly 2,400 students, faculty and staff, the College is organized into six academic departments as well as a number of administrative offices and special service divisions.
Office of the Dean
The Dean of the College is responsible for overseeing all operations, both financial and academic, for the entire organization. Three Associate Deans (Research, Student Affairs and Online Education) and one Assistant Dean (Advancement) share the administrative responsibilities.
The College has over 15 different faculty and staff committees to help create everything from academic policy to choosing student award recipients.

Nearly 2000 graduate and undergraduate students are enrolled in degree programs across our six academic departments. Each department is unique in its organization as well as in its areas of scholarship and research.

Student Academic Affairs Office (SAAO)
SAAO is headed by Violet J Harris, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Brenda Clevenger Evans, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs, and Mildred Trent, Assistant Dean for Diversity and Minority Recruitment. This office manages student academic affairs within the College, from undergraduate admission and advising to maintaining policies on graduate student research and coursework. If you have questions about being a student in the College, the SAAO office is a great place to start.
Bureau of Educational Research
The Bureau of Educational Research supports the research mission of the College through its two offices: The Research Opportunities Office and the Office of School University Research Relations.

Office of Advancement
This office is headed by Joan Tousey, the Assistant Dean for Development. This office coordinates alumni activities for the College as well as working to develop relationships with friends, corporations and foundations to bring private investment for College activities.

Office of Budget and Resource Planning (OBRP)
OBRP, under the direction of Barb Geissler, oversees the financial operations for the entire College. From annual budgeting to space allocation to human resources, this is the business office of the institution.
The Council on Teacher Education
The Council on Teacher Education (CTE) is responsible for coordinating certification activities for all of the teacher and professional personnel preparation programs on campus. Educational Career Services Office (ECSO)
Preparing new teachers and administrators for careers in public schools is only part of our responsibility as a College. The ECSO works with students throughout their time in the College to help them find positions after graduation.

Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO)
The Office of the CIO has a dual mission of research in applications and development of new educational technologies as well as providing technical services for nearly all computing and networking activities in the entire College.
Office of Community College Research and Leadership (OCCRL)
OCCRL, housed in the Department of Educational Organization and Leadership in the College provides research, leadership, and service to community college educators and assist in improving community college education policy and practice, particularly in the Illinois community college system.
Office of Mathematics, Science and Technology Education (MSTE)
MSTE brings together the resources of multiple programs across the Illinois campus to develop new methods and materials to improve the teaching and learning of mathematics and science in K-12 schools.
