The goal was to determine how the fami lies’ social practices changed as a result of participating in the project \, which included a collaboration between a major public university\, a lo cal church\, an African American sorority\, and Call Me MISTER participant s.\nThe families were exposed to an abundance of books written by and abou t African Americans through a series of workshops over a period of six mon ths. The program ended with a presentation by James E. Ransome\, an award- winning illustrator.
